WorkSafe invites all Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) to join our special Safe Work Month Lunch and Learn webinar.

Held monthly, these webinars cover topics of interest to HSRs and provide an opportunity to ask questions directly to WorkSafe inspectors. At just 45 minutes, they are designed to fit conveniently into a lunch break or toolbox session.

Our Safe Work Month session will be held from 12.00 pm to 12.45 pm on Wednesday, 22 October 2026 and will be presented by Darryl Griffiths, Senior Inspector/Scientific Officer from the WorkSafe Occupational Health and Hygiene team. 

This session will focus on musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), one of the most common causes of workplace injury. Darryl will discuss key MSD hazards, common risk factors, the impact of hazardous manual tasks, and practical strategies to eliminate or reduce risks in the workplace.

Following the presentation, he will answer questions from attendees. We encourage you to submit your questions via Slido (slido.com) using the code #HSRLandL.

Know the speakers

Darryl Griffiths

Darryl is a Senior Inspector and Scientific Officer in WorkSafe WA’s Occupational Health and Hygiene team within LGIRS. He brings more than 20 years’ experience in ergonomics, risk management and the prevention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders and psychosocial harm. Before joining WorkSafe, Darryl held senior safety consulting roles in the United States, leading complex investigations and improvement projects across sectors including aerospace, biotechnology, manufacturing, retail and warehousing. Drawing on his qualifications in occupational science and occupational therapy, together with his specialist expertise in ergonomics, Darryl works collaboratively with employers, health and safety representatives, workers and industry leaders to turn evidence into practical workplace improvements. He is particularly interested in how good work design, effective worker consultation, research and education can help prevent harm and create safer, healthier workplaces.
