About the event
WorkSafe is hosting an informative and practical session designed to help Unions understand what consultation is required by a person conducing a business or undertaking (PCBU) to workers and how they can support workers and elected Health and Safety Representatives. We will discuss how consultation should work in practice, and how union reps and Health and Safety Representatives can respond when consultation breaks down.

What you will learn
PCBU Responsibilities:

  • Primary duty of care
  • When and how consultation must occur
  • What WorkSafe looks for during inspections

Legislation and Requirements:

  • WHS Act
  • Regulations
  • Codes of Practice

 Effective Consultation Practices:

  • What consultation is — and what it is not

Why Union representatives should attend
This session will help you:

  • Understand the obligations of a PCBU to consult
  • How you can better support your members and HSR’s
  • Participation in WHS issue resolution and consultation discussions.
